About the role
Balfour Beatty have a fabulous opportunity for a Senior Proposals Writer to join our amazing Major Projects (work Winning) team based in Canary Wharf, London.
As the Senior Proposals Writer you will write and produce winning quality/technical proposals, capturing best practice and demonstrating clear win themes and customer value. Depending on pipeline, you will also play a key part in the cost recovery function for Major Projects' overhead by supporting key projects, such as Sizewell C, FEED Studies for the Energy Transition Sector and other BB Business Units.
What you'll be doing
Other key responsibilities will be:
* Understand the customer requirements for pre-qualification questionnaires and tender submissions and gather, collate, and format data for the submission.
* Assist the Bid and Proposals Team in developing win themes and value propositions using appropriate tools and techniques.
* Develop storyboards and answer plans from tender strategy meetings and engagement with subject matter expertise, incorporating win themes and value propositions.
* Manage the written delivery of the technical responses, incorporating strategy and storyboarding workshops, review periods and finalisation of the written response – focused on the client’s requirements, selling our value propositions, and strictly meeting the scoring criteria.
* Aid the Bids and Proposals Manager and Director of Bids and Proposals to support all work winning activities.
* Maintain regular communication with the Bids and Proposals Team, wider Work Winning Team, and any necessary subject matter expertise in the development of tender submissions.
* Assist the Bids and Proposals Team in developing win themes and value propositions using appropriate tools and techniques, including support to developing ‘Playbooks.
* Identify and write up project innovations and best practice in case studies for use in proposals.
* Remain up to date with individually allocated case studies, which may include carrying out site visits throughout the year to gather the very latest information.
* Interview subject matter experts and project teams for CV development and to write compelling, behaviourally focussed CVs.
* Extract quality outputs from submissions for sharing on the Work Winning Hub for reuse.
* Brief operational teams on the details of a project and work with them to articulate the technical solution.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
* A thorough knowledge of the techniques and methods of proposal writing, along with a laser focus on answering the technical requirements of client tenders.
* Previous experience in the methods and techniques of proposal writing.
* Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software
* Experience publishing and formatting submissions.
* Excellent attention to detail, spelling, punctuation and grammar
* Exceptional at editing skills
* Has knowledge of the construction industry or experience within a project-based organisation.
