Senior Nurse Case Manager (Part-time, Job-share, Full-time)

The opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity within our Zurich Rehabilitation Team GI for the position of Senior Nurse Case Manager. ZRT is a remote team working across several locations within the claim’s teams. Would you like to join our dynamic team and be part of our success?
You will be responsible for assisting in the medical management of injured parties, both pre-claim and those pursuing a claim through our P&C line of business. Collaborating directly with employees, employers and their legal representatives to identify rehabilitation needs, coordinate treatment programmes and draw up graded return to work plans. Contact with customers will be provided over the telephone.
What will you be doing?
1. Case management of workplace and road traffic accident injuries including the assessment of injuries and the coordination of care delivered to these individuals.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment regimes and initiate return to work programmes with employers.
3. Function as a point of specialist referral for non-medical employees of Zurich UKGI.
4. Actively encourage knowledge transfer into the claims departments to raise handler’s level of medical competence and confidence.
5. Support the team manager with the technical development of the ZRT team to raise standards, competency and quality across all work streams.
6. Upskill technical competencies with ZRT team through training and coaching.
7. Meet quality standards by following best practice.
8. Provide technical guidance and recommendations as the subject matter expert to support the resolution of the most complex customer cases and develop precedents to improve customer service.
9. Resolve technical problems by referring to policies, procedures, specifications to ensure accuracy and operational consistency.
10. Function as a technical expert for the ZRT team and internal customers and maintain up-to-date knowledge of own area of expertise.
11. Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating in internal or external meetings or projects as needed.
12. Identify improvement opportunities related to workflows and procedures that contribute to team results and provide solutions in support of a culture of continuous improvement and initiative-taking case management.
13. Undertake LMR’s (Audit), provide feedback and coaching to the case managers on an individual basis. Analyse key themes to identify trends and areas for business improvement providing potential solutions.
14. Assist with the induction of new starters and coaching to develop technical competency.
15. May participate in customer marketing efforts.
16. Deputise for the team manager during leave.
17. Support line manager with delivery of our strategic goals.
Who are we looking for?
1. Registered General Nurse with current UK registration or other professional registration with similar medical background.
2. Occupational Health qualification or experience is desirable.
3. Cert CII qualified or working towards.
4. An understanding of claims functions and processes in addition to a broad medical knowledge particularly in relation to musculo-skeletal injuries and psychological trauma.
5. Good working knowledge of the NHS and understanding of how to circumnavigate potential treatment delays.
6. Good understanding of the private medical sector and the services available.
7. Ability to merge the care needs of the individual with the financial needs of Zurich Insurance Company.
8. Previous experience of group risk desirable.
9. Proven record of technical expertise and evidence of continued professional development.
10. Ability to communicate to all levels.
11. Ability to form working relationships quickly and professionally and to use these relationships to positively impact upon the ZRT & claims departments function.
12. Ability to influence opinion and generate change within all levels of the business.
13. Capacity to work both individually and as part of a team.
14. Problem-solving approach demonstrating a logical thought process.
15. Good customer skills concentrating on both internal claims departments and external policyholders.
16. Desirable computer literacy and Microsoft Office applications.
