An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced PT/OT/SLT or Dietitian with excellent leadership skills, sound multi-professional management experience and extensive community rehabilitation experience to undertake the role of Head of Service in the Adult Community Rehabilitation Team (ACRT) and the Wheelchair Service (WCS). This role works in close partnership with the existing job-share partner to manage both teams.
ACRT provides rehabilitation for clients with neurological and physical disabilities and the team consists of AHP’s and Clinical Neuropsychologists. The team is supported by a Consultant Neurologist, AHP Consultant in Neuro Rehab and Neuronavigators.
The WCS assess, supply, repair and maintain mobility and seating equipment for children and adults. The team consists of OTs and Rehab Engineers. The service has multiple contracts with external providers to support repair, maintenance and customised seating.
The post holder will work closely with the existing job-share partner, Head of Adult Therapies and senior colleagues to deliver quality community rehabilitation services aligned with Homerton’s strategic objectives, including Neighbourhoods, productivity and digital optimisation. Drive and enthusiasm is essential due to the changing health landscape working in an inner-city community service.
Individualised training and professional development is supported and there is a strong commitment to Quality Improvement, research and audit.
• To provide overall operational management and professional and clinical leadership to the Wheelchair Service and the Adult Community Rehabilitation Team
• Working with the Head of Therapies to meet expected results for the department with reference to national and occupational policy
• Act as an expert therapy practitioner in the field of community therapy services
• Provide expert training, advice and education to AHPs, GP’s, other health & social care colleagues and members of the voluntary sector
• Responsible for clinical governance of service including clinical audit and risk management according to available guidelines and legislation
• Budget and external contract management
• Re-tender, coordinate and monitor the quality and effectiveness of the Rehabilitation Engineering and Approved Repairer contracts.
