The Role
As a PMO Lead, you will play a critical role in supporting programme delivery by implementing and managing a best-practice PMO framework. You will ensure strong governance, reporting, and risk management while working closely with Programme Managers, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, standardisation, and process enhancement. You will ensure the smooth running of programmes, giving the best possible chance to deliver to time, quality and cost, so that benefits can be ultimately realised.
This role offers a high level of autonomy and is ideal for someone who can take ownership, drive change, and deliver without heavy oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a best-practice PMO framework, ensuring governance, reporting, and risk management align with organisational standards
Support Programme Managers and Workstream Leads to ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard
Enhance and standardise processes to improve programme efficiency, reporting, and benefits realisation
Coordinate governance activities, including scheduling, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with governance frameworks
Manage RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) processes, ensuring logs are maintained and actions are followed up
Ensure financial reporting and tracking are accurate and aligned with programme objectives
Act as a key liaison between business partners, stakeholders, and project teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment
What We’re Looking For
Strong PMO experience in IT, Construction, or both, with a solid understanding of governance, reporting, risk management, and benefits realisation
Proven ability to develop and implement PMO best practices that drive efficiency and accountability
Experience in change-driven environments, ideally where organisations have undergone restructuring or transformation
Not-for-profit experience is a plus, with an understanding of the pace and constraints in such environments
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with senior leaders and influence decision-making
Proactive, self-sufficient, and able to hit the ground running—this role requires someone who can take ownership and deliver results
An understanding of Prince2 and ideally Agile
High attention to detail, strong reporting and analytical skills, and experience managing programme financials
Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner certification (or equivalent) preferred

Salary range from £44,000-£48,400, plus excellent benefits including up to 10% matched Pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 28 after 3 years), subscriptions to professional bodies, retail discounts and enhanced family leave
