Job Title: Specialty Doctor in General P aediatrics

Entry Criteria for a Specialty Doctor:
A doctor appointed to this grade:
shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);
And
* shall have completed at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT);
Or
* shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.
Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, full time (40 hours per week) post based in St Johns Hospital.
Within NHS Lothian general paediatric services are provided at the Royal Hospital
for Children and Young People for Edinburgh City, Mid and East Lothian and St John's Hospital, Livingston for patients in West Lothian. There is also a level 1 Special care unit caring for babies born at SJH with tertiary neonatal services provided by the Simpson Centre for Reproductive Health based at the Royal infirmary in Edinburgh.
There is a community paediatric service of 12 WTE consultants for Lothian which takes the lead in Child Protection and Disability Care.
There is an excellent teaching programme that includes weekly radiology meetings and well attended hospital grand rounds in addition to journal clubs and departmental teaching.
You will participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme as a teacher, as well as being able to access the regional paediatric programme sessions and will be involved in audit projects, which are regularly undertaken within the general medical paediatric department
