Job Summary:
The Locum Consultant in Care of the Elderly will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of elderly patients with a focus on promoting health, independence, and quality of life. The post-holder will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Duties:
o Provide expert clinical assessment and management for elderly patients.
o Conduct inpatient ward rounds and outpatient clinics.
o Develop and implement individual care plans, ensuring holistic care.
o Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
2. Leadership and Supervision:
o Supervise junior medical staff and provide teaching and mentorship.
o Lead initiatives to improve patient care and safety.
3. Education and Training:
o Provide education to healthcare professionals, patients, and their families about care of the elderly.
o Participate in teaching and training programs for medical students and junior doctors.
4. Research and Audit:
o Engage in clinical audit and quality improvement projects.
o Contribute to research initiatives within the department.
5. Administrative Responsibilities:
o Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
o Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to service development.
6. On-call Duties:
o Participate in the on-call rota as required.
Qualifications:
1. Essential:
o Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
o CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Geriatric Medicine or equivalent.
o Relevant experience in care of the elderly and related specialties.
o ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification.
2. Desirable:
o Higher qualifications (e.g., MRCP, MD, or equivalent).
o Experience in research and publication in geriatric medicine.

Pay: £107.76-£112.03 per hour
