We are now recruiting for an Operations Director to play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimising the delivery of engineering solutions across projects and operations. This leadership position requires strategic foresight, operational expertise, and exceptional communication skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with company objectives. The ideal candidate will drive operational efficiency, foster team collaboration, and strengthen customer relationships to support business growth and innovation. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role will directly manage the Project and Operations teams while collaborating closely with the engineering and manufacturing departments to ensure seamless project delivery, including oversight of procurement processes. Also offering strategic guidance to the senior management team on resource allocation to guarantee projects are executed efficiently and effectively. Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to; Programme Management: Oversee the successful planning, execution, and delivery of multiple engineering programmes, ensuring alignment with company strategies and objectives. Define programme scopes, set timelines, and manage budgets effectively to meet financial and operational goals. Monitor programme performance, ensuring all projects achieve milestones, quality standards, and customer satisfaction. Identify and mitigate risks proactively to maintain programme timelines and budgets. Operational Leadership: Drive operational excellence by developing and implementing streamlined processes across the company. Manage resource allocation to ensure optimal utilisation of staff, materials, and equipment. Lead efforts to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity throughout the organisation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align operational strategies with sales, marketing, and engineering objectives. Team Development: Provide strong leadership and mentoring to programme and operations teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Oversee team performance, conducting regular evaluations and implementing development plans to enhance skills and capabilities. Ensure clear communication and coordination between departments to drive effective teamwork. Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with key customers, stakeholders, and partners to ensure their needs are understood and met. Serve as a point of escalation for programme and operational concerns, resolving issues promptly and effectively. Represent the company at events, presentations, and meetings to promote its capabilities and achievements. Strategic Contribution: Collaborate with senior leadership to contribute to business planning, growth initiatives, and strategic decision-making. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the success of programmes and operational strategies. Candidates should hold a relevant degree level qualification and have previous experience in a similar leadership role. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the following; proven experience in programme and operations management within an engineering or technical solutions environment. Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams. Excellent project management skills, including risk assessment, resource allocation, and timeline optimisation. In-depth knowledge of operational processes and business improvement strategies. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders effectively. Analytical mindset and data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
