Client Summary:
Leading manufacturer and front line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include Engine Overhaul, final Drive Overhaul, and locomotive refurbishment.
Position Summary:
Stripping rafts and building transmissions within the Rail industry.
You will be working in teams to breakdown mechanical systems on locomotive rafts and rebuild. Roles can include:
1. Engine strip down or strip down of components and rebuild.
2. Fitting newly refurbished engines back onto the rafts, including all components that service and help the running of the engine, such as radiators, pumps, tanks, pipe work, electrical looms, and more.
3. Having a good understanding of vehicle mechanical interfaces and repairs of vehicle components.
4. Installing/repairing hydraulic systems.
5. Previous engine knowledge would be advantageous.
6. Overhauling raft components.
7. Understanding schematic drawings.
8. Undertaking training as and when required.
9. Working within a realistic timeframe.
10. Mentoring trainees/apprentices when applicable.
11. Ensuring that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
Person Profile/Experience:
A strong mechanical background is required. People from HGV, large engine, or rolling stock assembly backgrounds are ideal. Understanding of engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics in plant or heavy goods is also ideal. A good attitude and willingness to work flexibly (overtime available) are essential.
Qualifications:
Relevant engineering qualifications are preferred, but not a necessity for an experienced person.
