Senior Electrical Engineer
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join us on a contract basis. You will be part of a team that delivers electrical and automation products to our Naval and Commercial Marine customers. You will be working closely with other engineering disciplines to design Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems and Equipment for Naval applications.
Day to day -
1. Design, develop and verify Power Distribution Systems and Equipment, to meet specialist, highly demanding technical specifications.
2. Liaise with a spectrum of multidisciplinary engineers to ensure a holistic design process.
3. Present technical information and design specifications as part of the design review process.
4. Support the manufacture and testing of electrical products through to delivery.
5. Represent the Project/Company to customers, suppliers and operators as necessary, with the occasional requirement to travel to locations to RR, customer and supplier sites.
6. Authoring technical documentation, reports, schedules, schematics etc.
Key Skills we are looking for -
1. Be educated to degree level or equivalent in the electrical field with experience in electrical design techniques.
2. Possess knowledge of both AC and DC electrical power distribution systems, their components and sub-assemblies.
3. Be able to proactively identify issues and independently apply problem solving techniques to manage them through to resolution whilst considering all requirements, whether functional, regulatory or safety related.
4. Have excellent communication/influencing skills, being able to clearly and effectively articulate ideas, plans and priorities to engineers of other disciplines.
5. Be able to work both individually and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
It would be advantageous if you -
1. Possess a sound working knowledge of marine and electrical standards and regulations, such as Class Society rules, IEC61439 and Def Stans.
2. Are professionally registered as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or be working towards gaining a professional status.
3. Have experience in design software such as AutoCAD electrical to generate electrical schematics.
