Head of Model Validation (9 Month FTC) Why Join Us? At Direct Line Group, we’re looking for an experienced Head of Model Validation (FTC) to play a key role in supporting the development of our Internal Economic Capital Model (IECM). You’ll lead independent validation activities, oversee model risk management, and provide critical insights. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of financial and insurance risk, collaborating with senior stakeholders and ensuring we remain compliant with Solvency UK and other regulatory requirements. This role is being offered on a 9-Month Fixed Term basis. What You’ll Be Doing As Head of Model Validation, you’ll be responsible for: Leading independent validation of the IECM, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Developing and implementing an annual validation plan, covering scope, approach, and resources. Managing model risk oversight, including maintaining the model inventory and overseeing validation of significant models. Producing validation reports for key committees, including the Board Risk Committee and Audit Committee. Reviewing and validating model changes, ensuring controls are in place and regulatory standards are met. Enhancing the Model Validation Framework, bringing best practices from across the industry. Working closely with the wider Financial & Insurance Risk team, providing insights to strengthen risk oversight. Leading, mentoring, and developing the model validation team, ensuring high standards of technical review. What We’re Looking For We need a highly analytical leader with a strong actuarial background and experience in model validation. You should have: Qualified Actuary status (FIA or equivalent). Significant experience in model validation, either in first or second-line risk functions. Expertise in Solvency UK and internal model regulatory requirements. A strong understanding of risk management, capital modelling, and financial reporting. Leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge and influence at senior levels.
