Job summary The Children's Burns team has an exciting opportunity available to join their office admin team in the role of Data Support Clerk. This fixed term position is well suited to someone familiar with hospital administration and databases but looking to advance their skills in this area of work within a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary Burns team. On job training on the International Burns Injury Database will be provided. Main duties of the job Read patient records, extract relevant information and input the clinical information into the international Burns Injury database (iBID) as accurately as possible, identifying and correcting any errors or omissions, seeking advice when the gaps/ amendments are not easily rectified. Investigate specified outcomes where necessary, following the patient pathway from injury to hospital discharge and beyond as required. Have an awareness of all aspects of the data set required and ensure the completion of any missing information within set deadlines. Identify and resolve (where possible) any discrepancies in the data. Key skills we are looking for include the following: An effective and polite manner when dealing with people, both face to face and on the phone. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy. Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others. Ability to work on your own, using your own initiative, if required. Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers. Effective organisational skills. Good IT skills including Microsoft packages. Attention to detail.
