Job Summary
The post holder takes professional and operational responsibility for organising the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme in County Durham, Tees Valley Hambleton and Richmondshire (CDTVH&R), including the management, training and development of the Newborn Hearing Screening Team in accordance with the policies of the National Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.
The post holder will act as the professional lead for the day-to-day management, evaluation and quality assurance of the screening process including the provision of antenatal information, the screening procedures and any onward referral. This must be in line with the nationally agreed Local Programme Management tasks document available on gov.uk.
This post is for internal candidates to South Tees Trust. If you are not currently working within the trust, your application will not be reviewed and automatically rejected at the shortlisting stage. Please be aware of this when submitting your application.
Main Duties of the Job
This post entails a large element of lone and autonomous working taking responsibility for NHSP service in the whole of the above area - normally around 15,000 births per year - as well as the teams of dedicated screeners based at the main four delivery units and who also cover the two midwife-led delivery units. The post holder will also oversee and regularly review the organisation of outpatient screening clinics at all appropriate venues across the area (currently 12 different locations).
The post holder will be required to travel between screening locations and be responsible for organising their own diary, workload and priorities.
As the screening staff are employed by 3 different Foundation Trusts, the post holder will hold an honorary contract with both Durham and Darlington and North Tees and Hartlepool Trusts.
