Job title: Engineering Manager
Location: Bristol
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE
Our client is a specialist manufacturer of high-complex tolerance components in the Aerospace Engineering field, with extensive machining capabilities allowing this business to take on the toughest aerospace engineering challenges.
Responsibilities for the Engineering Manager
1. Lead the Engineering department and be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Engineering systems.
2. Directly manage and lead the Engineering team consisting of CAD/CAM development engineers, manufacturing engineers, and NPI engineers to deliver engineered systems to manufacturing in compliance with its identified requirements.
3. Contribute to the business strategic development as a key member of the Senior Leadership team.
4. Develop new products in a profitable and efficient manner.
5. Strategically develop a technology roadmap for the business, taking into account new business development and requirements.
6. Generate and implement plans for out-of-hours running on specific CNC systems.
7. Work with facilities management to ensure CNC systems are suitable and able to produce parts RFT.
Essential skills, knowledge, and experience required for the Engineering Manager
1. Technical expertise in Design & Manufacturing Engineering.
2. Qualification (BSc, BEng, MSc) in Engineering.
3. Strong drawing understanding (GD&T, coating, special processes).
4. Experience of managing NPI and existing production process improvements.
5. Approachable manner and ability to communicate effectively internally and externally.
6. Familiarity with CNC systems (3-5 axis milling, turning, and grinding).
Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience for the Engineering Manager
1. Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices.
2. Understanding of the industrial Aerospace manufacturing systems and processes.
3. Knowledge of SolidWorks/Solid CAM.
4. Familiarity with EDM and Wire Cut systems.
5. Robotics and lights-out methodologies for machining.
6. ISO9001, AS9100 knowledge.
7. Green/Black Belt certified.
