SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Resource Provision)

Role:
We are working on behalf of an Autism Resource Provision (ARP) to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a student with Autism on a 1:1 basis.
The student also has moderate learning difficulties and presents some challenging behaviours.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the student and the teacher, ensuring the student's learning needs are met, promoting positive behaviour, and safeguarding their well-being.
You will be expected to provide consistent support, helping the student access the curriculum and thrive in the school environment.
This is a full-time, long-term position for the 2024-2025 academic year. You will be required to work on-site, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM during term time. The school is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from the local train station (accessible via the Underground), and on-site parking is also available.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support for a student with Autism, ensuring their learning, behaviour, and welfare needs are met.
- Support the student in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning objectives.
- Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored strategies and adjustments.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for the student to engage with learning and social activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and support the student in managing any challenging behaviours.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO and other staff to ensure the student's individual needs are being met.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with Autism and/or learning difficulties.
- Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related strategies to support students.
- Experience in managing challenging behaviour in an educational setting.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and liaise with other professionals.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students with additional needs.
