First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client who is the leading entertainment and sports company in the country, providing high end, bespoke TV facilities and crew to the world’s Broadcasters and Producers to recruit a HGV Mechanic to join their team.
My client is looking for a proactive, dedicated and team orientated HGV Mechanic to assist in the maintenance of their busy fleet operation. Based in the High Wycombe and Oxford area, the successful candidate will work with their experienced team to maintain their extensive fleet of television outside broadcast vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that all vehicle and trailer servicing and repairs are correctly carried out.
2. Accurately complete job sheets and other inspection documentation as required.
3. Carry out welding and fabrication work as necessary (training provided if required).
4. Raise and action component procurement requirements as needed.
5. Use workshop equipment in a correct manner.
6. Contribute towards effective “preventative maintenance”.
7. Correctly record the use of parts.
8. Complete all work to a “right first time standard”.
9. Prepare and submit vehicles to a standard appropriate for the issuing of an annual test certificate.
10. Communicate accurately as to ‘Work in Progress’ and efficiently notifying the fleet office anticipated delays or issues.
11. Ensure that knowledge is in line with modern technologies and developments applicable to the role.
12. Ensure that good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
13. Assist with other ad-hoc duties as required.
Skills and Experience:
14. IMI L3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Repair & Maintenance (or equivalent).
15. Evidenced CPD (e.g. IRTEC).
16. Understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and procedures.
17. Keenness to understand mechanics & associated electrics.
18. Full UK Driving Licence C+E (Class 1) essential.
19. Valid Drivers CPC card and Digital Tachograph card (to be renewed as required).
20. Effective verbal and written skills, coupled with problem solving skills.
21. Comfortable with the use of IT and software applications.
22. Open willingness to undergo additional training and upskilling.
23. Safely control and work with heavy equipment.
24. Able to work on own initiative and/or as part of a team.
25. To fully understand and comply with all company and statutory related processes, including hours of work and H&S working practice.
26. Willingness to be flexible and work overtime and weekends where exceptions arise.
