PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
1. With new and exciting client mandates, our high performing Construction Team is looking for a 1-4 PQE + lawyer to join our expanding Scotland practice.
2. You will act for a number of FTSE 100 and local clients, supporting a variety of non-contentious construction work.
3. We provide first-class technical insight and training and are looking for an enthusiastic team member who wants to build their long-term career with us and become a well-rounded lawyer providing quality, commercial advice for our clients.
THE TEAM:
4. The team advise on every aspect of construction law across all sectors of the industry. The work of the group is hugely varied and includes commercial buildings, civil and process plant engineering, energy, infrastructure and utilities - across both private and public sectors.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE:
7. You will be based within our Glasgow or Edinburgh office (the latter being where our contentious team is based) and you will be required to be in the office a minimum of three days per week.
8. If you're Edinburgh located, you can expect to spend some time in Glasgow (where your immediate colleagues are based) on a regular basis.
9. The successful candidate can expect to have significant client contact. This is a fun, high performing, cohesive, busy team and there are excellent prospects for career development and a fantastic array of clients for you to get involved with and help deliver their projects.
10. Top quality construction mandates: Our market leading construction team continues to grow the mandates on which it acts both for existing and new clients. You will have plenty of opportunity to assist in pitching for work and helping to manage client relationships.
11. The team has a strong reputation for providing associates with early levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment and therefore you can expect to take a leading role on some matters. At this stage in your career the team will take a genuine interest and support you with your development therefore offering excellent career prospects.
12. You will be assisting in the drafting of and advising clients on a range of construction issues and documentation including consultant appointments, warranties, construction and development contracts, in a range of sectors including living, office, retail life sciences, energy industrials and transport.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
13. Have at least 12 months + experience within construction law, seeking a new challenge with a non-contentious focus.
14. Enthusiasm, proactivity, and a drive to develop professionally.
15. A willingness to contribute to the success and development of the team.
16. An ability to deliver concise & practical legal advice.
17. Exceptional newly qualified candidates will also be considered.
18. Maintain efficient diary and task management across a range matters, ensuring the accuracy and levels of client service expected within a high performing team
19. Be confident in drafting clear and legally effective documents, which reflect the client's instructions
20. Remain calm and optimistic in time sensitive situations or under pressure.
21. Be enthusiastic about the development of your legal skill set and continuous learning.
22. Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.
