Accounts & Tax Assistant Manager or Manager

Butler Rose Public Practice are delighted to be supporting our client, a dynamic and growing accountancy practice based in the City of London, in their search for an experienced and well-qualified Accounts & Tax Assistant Manager or Manager to take up the “Review and Finishing” of various assignments and take ownership of the delivery of production of work for certain allocated clients.
Role Responsibilities:
* This role will take responsibility for a mixture of Ltd Companies and Sole trader accounts and related tax returns, a mixed portfolio, mainly serviced based with a slant towards “creatives”. This experience is not essential, but ideally an interest in related tax matters will be helpful for the holistic parts of the client’s portfolio.
* Most of the production/processing/drafting of the accounts and tax returns will have been completed already by the team, so it’s therefore more a function of owning/responsibility of the input/throughput/output of various jobs to deliver (within deadlines); the role is therefore a pure review process, rather than “doing” the accounts/tax preparation and also key to control information flows.
* The successful candidate will therefore need to demonstrate experience in the review and delivery and managing production. You will also need to monitor and react to ad hoc queries from emails/calls and respond accordingly in a timely manner.
* You will be responsible for completeness of information, communicating with the client, then reviewing basic self-assessment tax returns as part of the sole trader accounts process and standalone tax returns.
* The team already produces most bookkeeping, drafting of accounts/tax and also prepares the firm's standard tax/accounting working papers. So, this is mostly coordination and a review process; understanding the key issues/risks as part of the planning and review process and then enclosing final packs and points to the client. The role is therefore focused on the output part of the process and maintaining quality reviews.
* Also, a small element to liaise and review payroll on these clients (payroll processing undertaken by the team), so just coordinating and reviewing/sending out. Same with quarterly VAT returns, management accounts with review and send, and possibly similar for CS01's.
Person Requirements:
* ACCA or ACA qualified with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a UK based accountancy practice.
* Strong technical knowledge of accounting and tax principles.
* Ability to manage a portfolio of clients and meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
* Strong IT skills including experience with accounting software such as CCH, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
