Job Advertisement: Quality Control Engineer Location: Christchurch, Employment Type: Full-Time Department: Quality Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking a talented and proactive Quality Control Engineer to join their quality team. Role Overview As a Quality Control Engineer, you will lead quality investigations, collaborate with customers and vendors to address issues, and support various quality initiatives, including APQP and PPAP programs. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure product excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead quality investigations, including MRB (Material Review Board) and RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Actions). Liaise with customers on non-conformities and returns, ensuring swift resolution. Maintain performance indicators (PI/KPI) and SPC data to identify and implement process improvements. Conduct internal audits and support APQP, PPAP, and new product introduction (NPI) programmes. Review operating procedures and ensure compliance through regular monitoring and auditing. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe working environment to prevent contamination or defects. Provide support across functions such as inspection, manufacturing, planning, and shipping. Ensure adherence to quality, environmental, and health and safety standards. Foster a ‘right-first-time’ ethos throughout the organisation. Experience and Qualifications Minimum three years’ experience as a Quality Inspector or Quality Engineer, ideally in the aerospace sector. Time-served through a recognised apprenticeship. Familiarity with aerospace quality systems and standards. Strong proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). HNC/HND qualification in a relevant field. Key Skills Knowledge of sheet metal, composites, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing methods. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Strong communication and collaboration skills across all organisational levels. Hands-on, proactive approach with excellent attention to detail. Experience in defect reduction and process improvement on production floors. Personal Attributes Logical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills. Highly customer-focused and self-motivated.
