Start Date: 24th April or 1st September 2025
Mossbourne Federation is the realisation of Sir Clive Bourne’s dream to provide the children of Hackney with an outstanding education. Built on a formula of high expectations, doing the simple things right, and the belief that all children can succeed, Mossbourne offers an environment where all learners, regardless of ability, benefit from innovative and enlightened approaches to teaching and learning. Our calm working atmosphere creates well-rounded individuals who excel in the arts, on the sporting field, and academically.
In 2025, our 20th anniversary year, we are delighted to have expanded to include three Thurrock schools in our Federation. We now consist of seven academies:
1. Mossbourne Community Academy (MCA) secondary and sixth form, Hackney
2. Mossbourne Fobbing Academy (MFA) secondary and sixth form, Thurrock
The successful applicant will be passionate about Geography education. They will be well organised and willing to go the ‘extra mile’ and will be focused on the attainment of all pupils. They will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), may be starting out as an ECT, or have a proven track record of successful Geography teaching. They will believe that all students can succeed in Geography. As a teacher at Mossbourne, you will receive guidance, support and a CPD package that is both rigorous and effective; you will work alongside outstanding practitioners who share a vision to always succeed.
Working for the Mossbourne Federation Academy means being part of a community of exceptional practitioners. Colleagues are warm, welcoming and supportive of each other. As one of the country’s leading federations, staff expectations are high. The Mossbourne Federation engages with, and supports its workforce, thus creating an inspirational working environment which nurtures the development of personal and professional excellence.
We are actively seeking to increase the proportion of our workforce who come from diverse backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from people of Black, Asian, and other minority ethnic descent. Injustice, discrimination, and intolerance go against the core tenets of the Mossbourne ethos. We actively reject discrimination in our academies through continuous review of our working policies and practices across the federation, including at the board level. We are committed to developing and supporting inclusivity, diversity, and anti-racism in every facet of what we do.
The Mossbourne Federation is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
