Java Support Engineer
Permanent contract
40 hours per week, Mon - Fri
Training hours will be Mon – Fri 12pm – 8pm for approx. 3 months (as needed)
Job Description
As a Development Support Engineer, you will be the second level of support for our clients, primarily, but not necessarily exclusively, based in the UK. You will provide technical software assistance for our first level Maven Service Analyst (MSA) Team, participate in regular issue tracking and ticket review meetings internally and with the Clients. Focus for the Team in on production related issues and activities.
The Development Support Engineer must primarily possess strong problem-solving ability alone and in working with others. They must also possess strong communication skills for effectively working with associates and Clients.
The specific technical skills required are:
* JAVA/J2EE
* SQL and Relational Databases (e.g. Oracle, MSQL, PostgreSQL)
* JavaScript and related technologies (e.g. HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax
* XML
Also, working knowledge of the following will be helpful:
* App Servers (e.g. Tomcat, Websphere, AWS, Azure)
* Development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
Responsibilities
* Work closely with other Support Developers, Maven Core Developers, Maven Support Analysts, Quality Assurance Testing Engineers.
* Effectively utilize the Jira issue tracking system for tracking of all support issues, within the defined client-specific Service Level Agreement (SLA).
* After-hours phone support coverage may be required based on business needs.
* Following Conduent policy on entering time spent on projects and tasks.
* Traveling to client or company sites as required.
The Support Analyst’s primary responsibilities include providing Production Support Services such as:
* Issue Ticket Resolution/Fixes
* Builds for Change Requests
* Minor Software Release Migrations/Builds
* Escrow Packaging and Delivery
* Software Security Scans
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science in Software Development and 4+ years of experience in Java Software Development or equivalent work experience.
* Knowledge of enterprise software required, with knowledge of public health industry a plus.
* Strong analytical, conceptual, and technical problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to deliver outstanding customer service, including excellent listening and empathy skills.
* Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and navigating competing priorities.
* Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Capacity to remain calm, composed, and articulate when dealing with challenging situations.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams and organizations.
* Self-motivated high achiever who can learn in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment with limited direct supervision.
