The Role The HR Assistant will gain hands-on experience across various HR functions, supporting an HR team that serves approximately 150 employees. Acting as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries, you will help the team remain approachable and efficient, assisting with recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and training coordination. This role provides a comprehensive introduction to HR practices, policies, and procedures, offering solid grounding for a career in human resources. Key Responsibilities Recruitment Assist in drafting job descriptions, posting vacancies, and coordinating interview schedules. Screen resumes and observe interviews to understand the recruitment process. Onboarding/Offboarding Manage administrative tasks for new hires and leavers, such as setting up and terminating profiles, and coordinating with team assistants, managers, security, IT, and office management. Support the preparation of onboarding materials, including offer letters and employment contracts. Assist with orientation, induction, and probation process management. Leaver management: ensure the prompt and accurate processing of leavers and generate documentation, data management and file management. Employee Records & Reporting Maintain and update employee records in HR systems like Sage, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Promotions/transfers/changes: accurately record changes in accordance with agreed processes and administer changes to individual’s terms and condition, contract updates, letters and databases. Prepare monthly HR reports and metrics, extracting data from databases and supporting audits. Benefits Shadow meetings with benefits providers, assist in data uploads, document filing, and system testing. Review market trends and support benefits-related tasks, including ad-hoc provider requests. Payroll Support payroll processing by gathering starter documentation, managing absence records, and generating payroll reports. Learning & Development (L&D) Support Assist in coordinating training logistics, updating the internal training platform, and administering language classes. Miscellaneous Respond to employee reference requests, draft employment letters for rentals or visas, and help administer sickness, maternity, paternity, and holiday absences. Monitor shared HR inboxes as a proactive contact for employee and stakeholder inquiries. Assist with expense processing. Project Support Contribute to HR initiatives, engagement activities, and company events, working closely with the team on various HR projects. Qualifications/Experience Essential: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and maintain confidentiality. Detail-oriented with a proactive approach and enthusiasm for new challenges. High school diploma, A-levels, or equivalent. Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
