About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join our client’s acute mental health services in Preston, Lancashire. In this role, you will support the Ward Manager in providing strong leadership and direction to the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. You will have defined responsibilities, including clinical supervision, staff mentoring, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ward. This position is ideal for a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) looking to advance their career in a leadership capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership: Provide senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team, supporting the Ward Manager in all aspects of ward management.
* Clinical Supervision: Offer clinical supervision to nursing staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
* Staff Development: Mentor and supervise an agreed group of staff, ensuring their continuous professional development and adherence to best practices.
* Operational Support: Manage day-to-day ward operations, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
* Deputy Duties: Take on defined delegated responsibilities from the Ward Manager, with protected time for these duties.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Registered Nurse (RMN): With active NMC PIN and significant post-registration experience in acute mental health.
* Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a mental health setting.
* Clinical Supervision: Experience in providing clinical supervision; formal training is desirable but not essential.
* Commitment to CPD: Ongoing commitment to professional development and leadership growth.
* Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in computer use.
