ROLE- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION- Hybrid/Remote (South / Southwest England)
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- £45,000 - £60,000, dependent on experience
My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment for the Marine industry. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in the Southwest on a permanent basis.
Remote working is available, but there is the requirement to travel around Bristol / Swindon / Southwest area occasionally.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
Be a self-starter, with strong leadership skills and the ability to own projects, work independently and implement your own ideas
Eager to work in a start-up / small company environment
At least 4 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
Ideally be experienced in Marine, Subsea, Aerospace, Automotive or related industries
Strong 3D CAD skills with SolidWorks, Inventor, Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software
PDM / PLM experience would be beneficial
Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Proficient using MS Office
Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
Hold a full UK Driving Licence
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Using 3D CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
Being involved in hiring and growing the Design Engineering team
Liaising with manufacturing providers
Being involved in final assembly of products
Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
Updating 3D models and drawings
Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
Checking drawings for sign off
Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
