Job Responsibilities:
* Drafting and amending correspondence and documentation using the case management system when instructed with accurate time recording on matters where required
* Liaise with clients and contacts to assist with answering queries both on email and telephone, providing regular updates to the relevant Lawyer
* Maintaining calendars across the department with client meetings and court hearings, keeping the Lawyers updated daily
* Support Lawyers in the department with the production and submission of client bills
* Completion of forms for submission as well as preparing client files for court and organising counsel where needed
* Conducting legal research to stay updated on relevant changes in Family law
* Attending client meetings with and on behalf of Lawyers in the department, taking detailed notes and instructions on new matters
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
* A strong understanding of Family law is required, in particular Divorce and Finance
* Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Be able to work in a collaborative manner with the department and wider firm as well as individually
* Always be able to retain high levels of confidential information with discretion
* Be proficient in MS office applications and legal software
* Be highly organised with the ability to manage several tasks at a time with precise attention to detail
Experience:
* Experience in a Legal Assistant role is required
* Experience in Family Law is preferable
* Possessing a legal qualification is preferable
Job Types:
Full time, Part time, Permanent.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday (35 hours per week).
Place of Work:
Shrewsbury: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
£22,400.00 to £25,400.00 FTE, depending on qualifications and experience.
