Senior Electrical Engineer (HV Cable Design) – Join Our Dynamic Transmission & Distribution Team!

Following on from a number of exciting major project awards, our Transmission & Distribution division is expanding and we’re seeking an experienced HV Transmission Cables Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an integral part of our organization, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring reliable energy delivery for our clients. From underground interconnectors to offshore wind farms, your expertise will shape the backbone of our energy infrastructure. What You’ll Be Doing – Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in HV cable design, your role will be diverse and impactful:
1. HVAC/HVDC Cable System Design: Dive into all aspects of transmission cable system design, from conceptualization to implementation for Onshore and Offshore projects.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of HV cables into substations, converter stations, and grid networks.
3. Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses for transmission cable system projects.
4. Front End Engineering Design (FEED): Be the visionary. Deliver innovative solutions for cable systems integration into major infrastructural development projects.
5. Consenting Stage Cable System design. Leading the interface with our civil and environmental teams to plan the delivery of transmission cable systems in line with consenting requirements.
6. Tender Stage Design/Detail Design for Transmission cable systems, developing concept stage design through to construction detail level.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve transmission cable-related issues during installation and operation/maintenance phases.
8. Stay abreast of technological advancements in HV cable materials, insulation, and transmission technologies.
Candidate Specification:
Essential:
1. Degree in Electrical Engineering
2. Experienced transmission cable systems engineer
3. Strong analytical skills and able to solve complex engineering problems relating to transmission power cable systems
4. A willingness to engage with new challenges as well as an ability to work confidently on tasks for which you have prior experience.
5. Ability to demonstrate good written communication skills including report writing.
6. Excellent communication and people skills.
Desirable:
1. Masters in Electrical Engineering
2. Experience in design of both onshore and offshore transmission cable systems
3. Experience in design of HV cable transmission systems for UK and Ireland utilities
4. Experience in design of HVAC and HVDC transmission cable systems
