JOB DESCRIPTION Job Family Definition Roles within the Hospitality job family are dedicated to sourcing, creating and serving innovative, exciting and delicious food and drink in a variety of catering environments across Eden, enhancing visitors experience, understanding and enjoyment of their visit. Role Purpose Reporting directly the Eden Sous Chefs this role is responsible for cleanliness and the maintenance of excellent hygiene standards. By washing and cleaning used cutlery and crockery, cooking utensils and trays, plus the cleaning of kitchen electrical and gas equipment (cookers/mixers etc.) they will ensure the safe and efficient running of the Eden kitchens. Key Accountabilities Maintaining the cleanliness of the Eden kitchens, front and back of house. Ability to work at speed to minimise the build-up of used equipment, plates, cups, glasses and utensils. Obey strict guidelines for correct cleaning and washing procedures including COSHH. Keep accurate records of cleaning schedules. Assist the Chefs and work closely with them to alleviate pressure at peak times. Demands of the Role Education & qualifications No formal hospitality qualifications are necessary. Job holder will have to undertake basic Health and Safety and Manual Handling training, so will require a basic level of English Knowledge & skills A good understanding of a working kitchen environment. The ability to operate under pressure and be part of a team. No minimum service or previous experience essential. Decision- making The role will work within set routines and practices. The ability to predict and anticipate what needs doing, to be self-motivated and have a pride in the role. Any business decisions will be referred to line manager. Resourcefulness Ability to think ahead and keep up a high pace and able to jump in and assist if bottle necks occur People & asset management Good listener and able to follow instructions under pressure. There are no people, budget or equipment responsibilities. Communication & visitor experience This role has no requirement for customer facing responsibility. Main liaison will be team/colleagues and line manager. Operational environment The role is venue based and often working behind the scenes of busy kitchens.
