A management qualification or NVQ equivalent is desirable, and you are expected to work flexibly, including unsociable hours, with a full driving license being necessary. What the job involves As a Team Manager, you will lead and develop a Social Work Team, delivering high-quality services that improve the well-being of children, young people, and their families while ensuring the Council’s statutory obligations are met. You will be responsible for critical decision-making in resource allocation and daily operations. Your role includes allocating work, managing workloads efficiently, supervising and training team members, and ensuring adherence to departmental quality standards. You will also handle staff selection, discipline, and performance, and stay informed on legislation relevant to practice. The role requires maintaining accurate records, budget management, and developing strategic policy within the department. Participation in reviews, care planning meetings, and addressing complaints as per departmental protocols are also pivotal responsibilities. Fostering active involvement of service users in assessments and care planning, while ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998, is essential. This position requires acting occasionally as a Service Manager and participating in training and development activities as required.
