Overview:
We’ve partnered with an exciting start-up developing self-healing concrete technologies. Their mission is to create innovative materials that can automatically repair cracks or damage, extending the lifespan of infrastructure and significantly reducing maintenance costs across a myriad of sectors.
Following recent funding, they’re now hiring a Senior Project Engineer to support the design, testing, and implementation of sustainable precast concrete elements, with additional involvement in life cycle assessment (LCA) studies.
What You’ll Do:
* Collaborate with the design team on precast element development and production
* Liaise with detailing companies and precast manufacturers
* Design and manufacture vascular networks using CAD
* Conduct laboratory testing on precast elements and analyse performance
* Coordinate on-site testing and implementation (e.g. retaining walls)
* Design and carry out structural experiments for testing concrete elements
* Assist in life cycle assessment studies with external partners
* Prepare clear, structured reports on experiments, results, and project progress
* Travel to manufacturing sites and field locations as required
What You’ll Bring:
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
* 5+ years in civil engineering or a related construction engineering role
* Experience in site operations or precast/RC frame projects
* Strong proficiency in CAD software and 3D modelling
* Experience with material testing and structural performance analysis
Nice to Have (Not Essential):
* Experience in sustainable construction or circular materials
* Knowledge of LCA methodologies and carbon footprinting
* Familiarity with 3D printing in construction or materials research
What’s on Offer:
This is a fantastic opportunity to move away from large corporate structures and join a hands-on, innovation-driven environment where your ideas and contributions will directly shape the next generation of sustainable materials.
You’ll work alongside Cambridge University alumni pioneering cutting-edge technology in construction, contributing to a more resilient, eco-friendly built environment.
