Job Title: Principal Engineer – Product Safety Engineering Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Brough, Filton, Frimley, Portsmouth, Weymouth or Manchester. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role Salary: Circa £55,000 What you’ll be doing: Undertake functional design and/or provide qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety. Obtain confirmation beyond reasonable doubt by review, surveillance and audit that those assumptions, underpinning engineering data, analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results have been validated. Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed. Undertake technical reviews, verifies and signs engineering designs Producing written function safety justifications Managing the production of a functional Safety Case to a defined schedule, reporting to a Safety Engineering Manager Your skills and experiences: Essential: Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership or equivalent experience Experienced in Industrial Controls Systems TUV Functional Safety Expert Experienced on both software and hardware IEC 61508 or IEC 61511 Desirable: Strong knowledge of Cyber Safety Understanding of Defence Standards Previous experience with the Defence Industry (E.g MoD) Submarine Engineering experience (Naval or Industry) Benefits: You’ll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. The Product Safety Team: As part of the Product Safety Team working in 2 areas of Delivery Process and Governance Process you will be supporting team and we move to the next critical step of the project to help deliver product safety ready for the build phase. You will be exposed to new technologies throughout the build process whilst modifying existing technologies to accommodate todays build.
