Interim Manager (Childrens Services)
Flexible Part-Time | Fixed Term (2 Months, Possible Extension)
Our client is a local Woking charity who work with and support people with learning disabilities and autism and they are looking for someone on an interim basis to work alongside the existing manager to ensure their services remain high-quality and well-organized. Your role will be split between office-based administrative tasks and on-the-ground leadership in our childrens services.
Office Responsibilities
Manage session bookings for children
Allocate places based on childrens needs and group dynamics
Coordinate staff schedules and confirm availability
Oversee planning of engaging sessions for holiday schemes, afterschool clubs, and youth evening sessions
Ensure all necessary resources (craft supplies, catering, etc.) are ready for sessions
Work with the Team Leader to prepare paperwork and digital registers
Service & Leadership Responsibilities
Oversee and support sessions to ensure they are structured, engaging, and well-managed
Act as a mentor and role model, empowering staff and promoting best practices
Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours
Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed, including completing accident and injury forms
Maintain and organise play resources, ensuring an engaging environment
Support staff progression, training, and recruitment in collaboration with our Talent Acquisition and Retention Manager
Address any staff concerns such as lateness, absences, or engagement issues, liaising with leadership as needed
What Were Looking For
Experience working with children and young people with SEND or autism, ideally in a group setting
Strong leadership skills confident in leading a group and coaching staff
A proactive, hands-on approach to service improvement and problem-solving
Solid administrative skills comfortable using Word, Excel, and booking systems
A team player who ensures services are safe, effective, and engaging for everyone involved
The Details
Hours : Flexible part-time, a minimum 22.5 hours per week (some evening and weekend work required)
Location : Woking
Contract : Fixed term for 2 months, with potential for extension
Salary : £13.00 £16.00 per hour
