We are pleased to advertise the role of Clinical Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in our Children's Physiotherapy team. This service provides musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment and treatment to the paediatric population of Coventry. This is a skilled post where the postholder will utilise specialist clinical knowledge to assess and treat children and young people with musculoskeletal complaints and lead the service in the area of musculoskeletal physiotherapy
The postholder will work closely alongside our other Clinical Specialists in physiotherapy and occupational therapy. These include early years, mainstream and special schools, respiratory, Advanced practice (including non medical prescribing), upper limb and splinting.
A comprehensive induction and ongoing support will be given, including both informal and formal teaching on leadership and clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
- To input into the co-ordination of the paediatric musculoskeletal service, supporting the work of colleagues to provide a paediatric musculoskeletal service to children with a Coventry GP.- To have specialist knowledge and expertise in the care and management of children with musculoskeletal ailments.- To carry out specialist clinical assessment and management of children and young people's needs and to plan and implement packages of care accordingly.- To support the child, family and/or carers holistically, in response to their specific needs, maximising their independence and quality of life.- To support the wider children's physiotherapy team and to be responsible for clinical supervision and mentorship of identified staff within the musculoskeletal aspect of the physiotherapy team. This includes leading on training, competencies and inputting into the development program for new starters within the field of paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy.- To be a senior member of the physiotherapy team, carrying clinical responsibility for a group of clients within a defined caseload; liaising and acting as a specialist resource within the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team.
