International Institute of Welding Committee Chair / Vice Chair United Kingdom Section of the International Institute of Welding Committee Chair / Vice Chair The Welding institute is seeking a Chair and Vice Chair of the United Kingdom Section of the International Institute of Welding (“UK Section of IIW”) Committee. Applicants who are currently involved in the UK Section of IIW are eligible. The UK Section of IIW affairs shall be governed by the Committee, and the Chair, Vice Chair and Committee shall report to The Welding Institute (“TWI”) Executive Director of Research and Quality Assurance. The objectives of the Committee are as follows:- · To ensure that all Industrial Members and Professional Members of TWI have an opportunity to derive advantage from TWI's membership of the IIW (such membership being effected either directly by TWI or a company within the TWI group), including overseeing dissemination of the work of IIW and insights into current technology trends. · To determine how the UK delegates to IIW should vote on any resolutions at the General Assembly on behalf of the UK and to coordinate UK nominations for IIW awards. · To propose to TWI’s Director of Research and Quality Assurance, candidate delegates and experts for IIW Commissions, with appropriate expertise and experience, where vacancies arise. · To seek opportunities and funding for co-operative activities to be carried out in the UK, as a contribution to the programme of work of IIW and to promote effective UK participation in the work of IIW. The Chair/Vice Chair of the Committee shall be elected annually for a maximum of three years by the Committee, with at least one meeting of the Committee taking place each year. This is a non-remunerated role and requires a time commitment of up to 3 days per annum. We are keen to attract candidates to lead the Committee as Chair/Vice Chair with the following experience, skills, qualifications and/or knowledge to support and strengthen effective decision-making of the Committee: · Contribute to the UK Section of IIW, have oversight of various matters concerning IIW and drive forward the development of the UK Section of IIW’s work. · Have sufficient understanding and knowledge of the IIW to actively participate in committee meetings · Use their analytical skills to effectively read and comment on papers and reports · Deal with requests for information promptly and effectively · Undertake ad hoc roles as requested in the broader interests of the committee · Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills · Experience of contributing to committee meetings as part of a Team · The ability to set and respond to deadlines · A willingness to take the initiative as required Applications are invited from members of the UK Section of IIW and we will require a CV and covering letter.
