Partners in Advocacy (PiA), one of Scotland’s leading independent advocacy providers, is seeking an Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced senior leader to guide PiA through a strategic and operational review, ensuring its long-term sustainability and impact.
About Us
PiA provides independent advocacy for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and those over 65. We also support children and young people with mental health challenges, learning disabilities, and additional support needs.
As the only Scotland-wide advocacy service for children aged 12-15, PiA ensures young people’s voices are heard in decisions affecting their education and well-being. About the Role
As Interim CEO, you will lead PiA through a strategic review, shaping governance, financial sustainability, and service delivery. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees to set PiA’s future direction, engaging key stakeholders to secure PiA’s long-term impact.
We are looking for a seasoned CEO, Executive Director, or Senior Leader with expertise in governance, financial management, and strategic planning within the charity, advocacy, or not-for-profit sector.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead a strategic and operational review, improving governance, structure, and effectiveness.
2. Provide strong leadership to ensure service continuity and operational efficiency.
3. Work with the Board of Trustees to develop long-term sustainability plans.
4. Engage and collaborate with funders, partners, and service users.
5. Identify and secure funding opportunities to support PiA’s mission.
6. Oversee financial planning and reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
7. Support and motivate staff through a period of change, fostering a positive work culture.
8. Represent PiA as an ambassador, developing key external relationships.
Person Specification
1. We are seeking a strategic, financially literate leader with a passion for supporting vulnerable people. The ideal candidate will have:
2. Leadership experience at CEO, Executive Director, or Senior Management level.
3. A track record in strategic change management, governance, and organisational review.
4. Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting and securing funding.
5. Experience working with a Board of Trustees in the charity or advocacy sector.
6. The ability to engage and inspire staff, fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
7. A strong understanding of independent advocacy principles and the Scottish Independent Advocacy Association (SIAA) Standards.
8. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including engagement with funders, policymakers, and partners.
