Telford & Wrekin Educational Psychology Service
Senior Educational Psychologist (1 FTE)
Soulbury B 6-9 (plus up to 3 SPA points) and a welcome payment
Due to expansion within Telford & Wrekin EPS team, an exciting opportunity for a Senior Educational Psychologist has opened up. This is a rare chance to become a member of the Senior Leadership Team in a small, welcoming, diverse and friendly EP service. We will provide you with a stimulating and supportive environment in which to pursue your career development aspirations.
This post would suit an experienced HCPC Registered and qualified Educational Psychologist. Experience in a leadership or management role is desirable, as is experience providing supervision to psychologists across a range of levels of experience, including trainees and assistants. A person-centred commitment to always putting children, young people and their families first is vital. Creative thinking and ideas for further developing and supporting our dynamic and talented EP team would be welcomed, as would excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
At Telford & Wrekin EPS, we prioritise creative and collaborative approaches informed by contemporary psychology to support children in a variety of contexts, within schools and throughout the community. We are committed to anti-oppressive, anti-racist practices and work within a consultation-led modality. Our team is highly valued by the council, schools and other strategic partners. Our traded work with schools is varied and we have extended the EPS into the community through exciting working partnerships with Health and Social Care, enabling us to work directly with families through our close working relationship with our Parent Carer Forum ‘Parents Opening Doors’ and alongside colleagues from Early Help. Our team is dedicated to actively seeking and applying cutting-edge psychology to support our families and young people. Through this, we aim to develop holistic, creative and preventative approaches to promote the wellbeing of children and families across Telford & Wrekin.
As a Senior EP in the Telford team, you will be supporting both the EP Senior Leadership Team and our team of Educational Psychologists, Trainees and Assistants in delivering traded work to schools, developing project work commissioned by schools and multi-agency commissioners, and contributing to the management and delivery of statutory services. You will support the Educational Psychology Service with strategic development and delivery on a range of Local Authority project work our psychologists are involved in, including Early Years, community and family outreach, Wellbeing Charter Mark developments, growing our ELSA network, and neuro-affirming practices across the LA.
As the ideal candidate you will:
* Be an experienced EP registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist with at least three years of practice experience.
* Demonstrate commitment to promoting inclusion through your work with children, families, schools and other professionals.
* Bring your passion for applied psychology in your specialist area and positive commitment to influence the wider system.
* Work well in collaboration with the wider EP team, embracing consultation as our main approach to service delivery.
In return, we offer:
* A strong and highly regarded EPS which provides opportunities for varied types of work.
* A Council whose Children’s Services were graded Outstanding in the most recent Ofsted Inspection.
* Outstanding team support.
* A well-balanced approach to office and home working, enabling flexibility alongside extensive opportunity for relationship building and peer supervision and support.
* A culture that prioritises a healthy work/life balance through flexible working arrangements, forward-thinking IT solutions and well-managed workloads.
* A rich range of continuous professional development opportunities, informed by the aspirations of the team.
* Regular one-to-one supervision, and opportunities for case discussion and peer support (including an enhanced supervision and induction programme for newly qualified EPs).
* The opportunity to participate in service development and transformation in a rapidly changing environment.
* Generous local government pension.
* Expenses including travel and HCPC registration fees.
We aspire for EP colleagues to join us, stay and grow both our service and your career. To this end, Telford & Wrekin is offering a welcome payment of £5,000, with the first £3,000 payable on joining our team, and £2,000 at the beginning of your third year of service.
