GPW Recruitment are partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL) in Halewood. Ford is investing £230m into the Halewood site to produce electric power units and it will be the first site to manufacture EV components in Europe, in 2024 with a capacity of 420,000 units.
Ford Halewood Transmissions Limited (FHTL) are seeking Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to support the business. Maintenance Engineers play a pivotal role in ensuring production machinery, assembly lines and equipment are maintained and repaired as required to ensure the maximum operation uptime, working to all relevant FHTL procedures to ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Environmental objectives are met.
Qualifications and Experience required by the Maintenance Engineer
1. Essential: Recognised Engineering Craft Apprenticeship and ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
2. Essential: PC Literate, Ability to work under pressure, part of a team, effective multitasker with a “can do” attitude.
Experience
1. Previous employment in a Maintenance Engineering role.
2. Experience of preventive maintenance, fault-finding, diagnosis of faults on pneumatics, hydraulics, leadscrews, spindles, PLC and CNC machines and assembly lines ideally.
3. Understanding of Profibus systems.
4. Siemens S7 PLC, Solution line, Power Line, 840D and Automation Drive Experience.
5. Excellent communication skills; Technical cross shift handover / line up.
6. Experience of utilising Mechanical & Electrical technical manuals and drawings.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
1. Perform fault-finding and diagnosis on a range of Siemens PLC controlled equipment.
2. Carry out planned preventative maintenance on a range of pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, CNC machines and robots in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and industry standard practices.
3. Be responsible for the recording of all work undertaken.
4. Analysis and resolution of Electrical and Mechanical faults and repairs, driving for continuous improvements to machinery.
5. Follow safety procedures and risk assessments.
6. Work alongside other Maintenance Engineers to combine a great deal of initiative and enthusiasm with a sound understanding of electrical and mechanical issues.
7. Work with Vendors, Production and Process Engineering teams to ensure optimum uptime and improvements to machines.

Working days are Monday - Friday (weekend work & overtime subject to business needs).
The plant currently operates days and a 3-shift pattern explained below.
Working Hours
1. Day shift: Monday - Thursday 7am - 15:30pm; Fridays 7am - 12:30pm
2. 3-shift:
1. Earlies: Monday: 6:30am- 3pm; Tuesday - Thursday: 7am - 3pm; Friday: 7am - 12pm
2. Lates: Monday - Thursday: 3pm - 11pm; Friday: 12pm-5:30pm
3. Nights: Monday - Thursday: 11pm - 7am; Friday: 5:30pm - 11pm
Shift patterns can be changed based on business requirements. When working 3-shift pattern employees incur a premium for all shifts worked of 27.5% - this premium does not apply to day shift workers.
