We are seeking to appoint a Science Technician to support the Physics/Science department which is highly successful and has a track record of delivering excellent outcomes for our pupils. It is housed in a suite of 13 recently refurbished and superbly equipped laboratories. Science is extremely popular with around 70% of students studying for triple award. In Year 12 there are typically 3 sets of A level in each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This role would be suitable for an experienced Science Technician but previous experience is not a requirement. If you are flexible, resourceful and work well with others then previous experience either within schools or Science is not required. Duties will include setting up equipment in a laboratory environment for practical lessons, the safe disposal of chemicals, responsibility for ionisation and radioactive materials, stock taking, retrieving and putting away equipment along with any other duties deemed necessary by the faculty. Ideally, candidates should possess a good working knowledge of COSHH & CLEAPSS in order to maintain compliance with Health and Safety Regulations at the school. This is a permanent position, working 37 hours per week, term time only and offers an actual salary of 20,407 per annum ( 24,404 full-time equivalent).
