Following the retirement of our current DFO, Sutton Grammar School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and committed Director of Finance and Operations (DFO).
This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join one of the top performing state grammar schools in England, and play a key role in its future development. Sutton Grammar School prides itself on its excellent academic outcomes, its strong pastoral ethos and the destinations of its students, very many of whom go on to attend Russell Group Universities including Oxford and Cambridge.
A member of the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will provide strong leadership while managing and developing the school’s non-academic functions to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards in all the school’s activities.
The DFO will take executive responsibility for the financial management and direction of the school and, as the senior administrative officer, manage the support staff.
You will have a relevant accounting/finance qualification with senior leadership hands on and strategic experience. You will be skilled at reviewing, enhancing and developing financial management systems, operational policy, procedure and delivery, and bring experience of managing and successfully developing teams. You will also lead on HR for the Trust. You will also be able to contribute and challenge effectively and establish strong working relationships with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and the Trust Board, supporting organisation-wide strategy where appropriate.
We are interested in hearing from professionals from a wide range of sectors, not just those with a background in educational finance. While you must have significant finance experience, we are happy to work with the right candidate to provide the necessary training in areas that they require support with.
If you would like an informal conversation about this role, please email the current DFO Seán Richings DFO@suttongrammar.school
