Job Title: Analyst, Policy & Controls Locations: Peterborough or Manchester (hybrid) Role Purpose: Reporting to the Manager - Policy & Controls, the Analyst - Policy & Controls plays a critical role in supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of Group Fina nce accounting and reporting policies and procedures, management of the finance risk registers, compliance with the internal financial reporting control framework, and accurate reporting on various areas within the remit of the team. This role will support a strong culture of financial discipline and compliance is in place across all the finance teams within the Markerstudy Group. It will involve interaction with cross-functional teams to support business process changes that focus on internal controls impacts and will be a liaison between the business and External Audit regarding internal controls. Responsibilities: You'll be responsible for: Helping to manage and keep track of all governance-related initiatives (e.g. risk events and action tracking; risk and control reporting, risk register reviews, governance forums packs etc) to make sure we don’t miss deadlines. Support Policy& Controls manager in executing design and operating effectiveness control testing and assurance work across various areas in line with the annual assurance plan Identifying, escalating, managing, and reporting risk and control deficiencies. Supporting the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process. Contributing to risk assessments (RCSA) and support driving actions to address root cause Assist in monitoring adherence to internal policies, business standards, and regulatory requirements including supporting with development of the control self-assessment and compliance monitoring procedures and templates Assist in managing the attestation letter process Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation related to policy adherence, control effectiveness, assurance results, incident management and others for senior management Support Senior Manager and Manager group with ad hoc project work. Developing your risk and control management knowledge to support teams in building new controls and developing internal processes. Building positive relationships with stakeholders across the three lines of defence to help develop a real understanding of our risk exposure, control environment, deficiencies and gaps. Qualifications and Desirable skills Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field Working towards accounting or internal audit qualification or recently qualified (preferred) Experience of internal audit and/or internal controls monitoring in a large, regulated business (preferred) Understanding of financial processes, internal controls, risk management and regulatory compliance Strong analytics, problem-solving, and communication skills High attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, including at senior level Ability to conduct research/analysis and organizse findings including trends Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and ongoing tasks Ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to providing updates and feedback to line manager and a range of stakeholders Excellent MS Office skills, including Visio Knowledge of Power Query or Power BI is an advantage
