Wickhambrook Surgery is looking to welcome into our busy practice a qualified dispenser, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. The position is available due to the forthcoming retirement of one of our friendly team, who has been with us for 32 years The role is offered on a part-time basis, for 25 hours or more, this can be discussed further at interview. The main responsibilities of the role: Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme. Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor. Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient. Process dosset boxes. Manage ordering stock and stock control. Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries. Monitor patients’ exemption status. Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication. Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager. About the Candidate If you are an experienced, qualified dispenser looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and experience: You will have at least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification. At least 2 years dispensary and/or pharmacy experience. Excellent clinical and medication knowledge. Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting. The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career. The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making. The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach. Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills. About Us Our practice is located in the beautiful Suffolk village of Wickhambrook between Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Haverhill, serving a patient population of approximately 5,200 patients, dispensing to nearly 100% of the practice population.
