Job Description Wood in Reading are recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer to join them on a staff basis working on a range of ground breaking best in class projects. You will have experience scoping and overseeing work as partner with specialist consultants and GI contractors and be comfortable supporting the work of other disciplines with Geotechnical input. Responsibilities Excellent geotechnical / engineering geology skills, experienced across a wide variety of ground conditions and environments. Used to work efficiently within a given budget and schedule. Comfortable to support and work with other disciplines, providing geotechnical input (recommendations, design parameters) suited to the different phases of a project. Scoping, overseeing work and reviewing output of geotechnical specialist consultants and GI contractors Client management and project briefing activities. Availability for travel (inside UK and internationally). Qualifications Chartered status (Geologist or Civil Engineer). Ground investigation scoping, specification, supervision and interpretation for industrial developments (e.g. processing facilities, refineries) and linear projects (e.g. pipelines, roads, railways). Offshore experience an advantage. Preparation of desktop studies. Preparation of geohazard assessments an advantage. Preparation of earthworks specifications and site supervision and advantage. Familiar with ICE specification documents format (ground investigation, piling). Working knowledge of geotechnical British and American standards. Working knowledge of relevant aspects of Eurocode 7 and ASCE 7. Working knowledge of seismic design codes an advantage. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic geotechnical software (e.g. Leapfrog, GeoStudio). Good written and verbal communication skills. Full UK driving license holder.
