Overview of the Service
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Consultant Psychologist specialised in the delivery of trauma therapies to lead our team of highly skilled clinicians. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our team in the Op COURAGE Integrated Veteran Mental Health & Wellbeing Service Treatment Pathway.
St Andrew’s is part of an exciting network delivering highly specialised mental health treatment to Military Veterans with a specific focus on supporting those with complex trauma needs. The service is commissioned by NHSE Armed Forces and delivered through a collaborative partnership with a range of NHS, charity and third sector organisations. St Andrews supports the delivery of psychological assessment and intervention in the East Midlands and East of England.
The post holder will support the delivery of individual and group psychological interventions as well as supporting the team and both Op Courage services more widely in relation to supervision, consultation, training, service development, and evaluation.
We will particularly welcome applications from individuals with a strong interest and high level of knowledge in trauma informed practice and working with complex presentations.
Clinical Leadership Role
You will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team whose focus is on providing specialist psychosocial interventions for veterans with service-attributable trauma. The team is part of a collaborative partnership in both the Midlands and East of England and so you will be working alongside colleagues in other partner organisations to ensure the delivery of the local Op Courage Veteran Mental Health & Wellbeing Service.
This role will suit a person already located in the Midlands or East of England who has a genuine interest in working with Veterans and clinical experience to match their needs.
You will have significant experience of working with complex mental health presentations, including chronic and complex PTSD and substantial experience in supervising others.
Experience of delivering community-based treatment will be essential in helping you work with our partners and service users to deliver a bespoke and flexible service that reflects trauma informed best practice.
You will have an established track record of leading and inspiring teams and an established ethos of using outcome data and service user feedback to drive service development.
Although the charity offices are based in Northampton, the post holder will be required to deliver psychological treatments and attend partnership events in the Midlands and East of England. Due to the travel required, a full driver’s licence is essential. However, in return, you will also benefit from having the flexibility to work from home when appropriate.
The Service
St Andrews provides opportunities for research, training, and continuing professional development and you will also have access to peer support from the wider Op COURAGE pathway, wider Charity, as well as regular CPD events. Due to the innovative nature of this service, there will be opportunities for service development including co-production with service users and an interest and enthusiasm in these areas is desirable.
