All Square Recruitment are hiring a Control System Design Engineer for an an established provider of bespoke control and safety solutions.
Specialising in industrial automation, control, and safety systems, the our client serves a diverse range of industries, including rail, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals, and marine. With over 25 years of expertise, they are committed to delivering high-performance, adaptable solutions that prioritize safety and compliance with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) standards.
The Role
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Colchester, Essex. The successful candidate will be responsible for control system design, electrical engineering, PLC programming, testing, and commissioning industrial automation control and safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
Control System Design: Develop detailed layouts, wiring schematics, and mechanical designs using AutoCAD.
Hardware & Software Engineering: Design and develop PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
PLC Programming: Write and develop code for Allen Bradley Rockwell and other PLC platforms.
Project Execution: Review specifications, define project requirements, and develop functional design documentation.
Testing & Validation: Conduct internal system testing, optimize designs using simulations, and perform hardware/software validation.
On-Site Commissioning: Travel to UK and international client sites for system commissioning.
Client Interaction: Participate in technical meetings with customers and stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (Supporting evidence required)
* Hands-on experience with PLC programming, specifically Allen Bradley Rockwell
* Background in both hardware and software development
* Bachelor’s degree in Control, Automation, or Electrical Engineering (Preferred)
* Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as ProfiBus, Ethernet, and DeviceNet
* Experience in SCADA and HMI system design
* Exposure to emulation and simulation software (Desirable)
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally
* Knowledge of the rail industry (Beneficial)
