The Role
We are seeking to recruit a Refuse Collector for our Waste and Recycling Team. We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to assist in the delivery of waste collection within a very high-profile service.
The work can be varied and interesting, and it is essential that you can appreciate the important contribution these services have in improving our local environment and the image of the area. You must possess good communication skills, the ability to undertake a range of duties, and be a quick learner undertaking tasks with a minimum of supervision. You will be required to work both as part of a team and on your own. You will work in adverse weather conditions and handle waste.
Although not essential, it would be an added advantage if you hold a current driving licence. Full training will be given to the successful candidate. You must be physically fit and able to undertake a range of duties and heavy manual work, including the collection of refuse and recycling. A willingness to train and use a wide variety of vehicles and equipment is essential.
This post is permanent. The post is 37 hours per week, based at White Lund Depot, Morecambe, and you will be required to cover shifts from 7.00 am to 4.45 pm any days from Monday to Saturday, including Bank Holidays. You must be flexible, as early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. On occasion, you may be required to work from 6.00 am and may also be required to work until 6.00 pm. The successful candidate will be required to work an extra “catch-up” day to compensate for some Bank Holidays as directed by the Operations Manager. Such days will normally be either the Saturday immediately before the Bank Holiday or the Saturday immediately after the Bank Holiday, although in most circumstances you will be required to work the Bank Holiday.
