Job summary We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our expanding & dynamic Cardiology Department at our Colchester Hospital site. The department offers a full echo service including routine transthoracic studies, contrast, bubble, transoesophageal echo, stress echo (bothDobutamine & Exercise) & physiologist led valve clinics. We hold weekly review & teaching meetings attended by our consultants & cardiac physiologists & we are very keen to progress & expand our physiologist led services. Our physiologists are well supported & actively encouraged to develop by attending relevant clinical courses &participate in wellbeing initiatives. This post would be ideally suited to someone who has undertaken the practitioner training programme & whom has an interest in specialising inEchocardiography. Candidates with a healthcare or science background that would like to progress into diagnostic cardiology are encouraged toapply. You will need to be ready to start by 1st October 2025. You will be required to attend University on block release to obtain your qualification. Informal visits or telephone meetings are welcomed and highly recommended prior to interview. Main duties of the job In conjunction with and supported by the Designated Training Officer, the Trainee will be responsible for their own progression through theEchocardiographer training programme, completing a mixture of work based competence and experience in NHS scientific departments,completing the learning outcomes as outlined by the national school of health care science, undertaking the complementary academic PostGraduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography and preparing for and completing the BSE Transthoracic Accreditation process. We offer a wide range of invasive & non-invasive diagnostics tests, including ECGs, ambulatory monitoring, exercise tolerance testing & devicefollow ups. Invasive procedures are performed in the purpose built Heart Centre & include diagnostic angiography, PCI & device implantation.
