Milestone is currently looking to recruit a Scheduler to work on our Suffolk Highways contract in Suffolk. As a Scheduler you will be part of our Operation who are responsible for delivery of works across Suffolk.
Suffolk Highways is a new contract secured by Milestone in 2023 for up to 20 years. Under the contract we are responsible for delivering a wide range of highway maintenance and improvement activities to Suffolk County Council. You will enable us to meet our key contract aim of ensuring high quality highway services are delivered for the benefit of residents, businesses, and highway users in Suffolk.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare Highway Maintenance programmes in conjunction with the Area Manager.
2. Ensure all works are planned and coordinated and identify efficiency savings where appropriate.
3. Liaise with the delivery teams to update programmes with progress.
4. Create and update Street works permits to create compliant programmes.
5. Challenge the detail and timing of works programmes where necessary with the Delivery Team.
6. Upload works orders to mobile causeway devices.
7. Ensure collaboration across the entire business to maximise best use of resources to deliver commercial benefit and efficiencies.
8. Maximise productivity through effective programming whilst ensuring we meet contractual response times.
9. Liaise with Depot delivery teams to ensure programmes remain up to date.
10. Escalate programme delays to the Area Managers and Supervisors to minimise issues with timing and delivery.
11. Liaise with Inspectors and Local Highways Officers to provide programme and scheduling updates and inform of any delays.
12. Provide technical support for mobile solution (Causeway) used by operatives.
13. Provide administration support when required.
14. Handle In Hours emergencies and organise the necessary attendance within the contractual attendance timescale.
15. Apply for utility stat plans when required.
16. Manually input job details to Causeway when required.
17. Provide an emergency call out handover to Out Of Hours team.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
1. Good general IT skills are essential, and ideally, you’ll be proficient in Microsoft suite of programmes.
2. Experience in effective programming of construction or maintenance works, preferably in the highway maintenance industry.
3. Great team working skills, the ability to collaborate well with others and develop excellent relationships with contacts at all levels – from the client to colleagues and contacts across Milestone and M Group Services.
4. Excellent communication skills – verbal and written - to ensure clarity in all situations and to effectively influence client decision-making.
5. Understanding of the Traffic Management Act (Street works Noticing / Permitting).
