As a Design Technician, you will support the design team in the day-to-day running of the office. Responsibilities will include design work on current products, giving technical support to external sales staff, and taking ownership of the company NER (New Engineering Request) process. After training, you will be responsible for dealing with new internal product requests, product BOM changes, system development projects, and assisting in answering technical queries, including creating customer drawings.
What you’ll be doing
1. Generate engineering drawings for customer enquiries.
2. Take ownership of the company NER system in response to customer requests for new products and product variations, utilising internal contacts to see through the process from start to finish.
3. Assist with the creation and maintenance of all technical drawings using 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawing software.
4. Manipulate live data to create new parts, assemblies, and bills of material (BOMs).
5. Assist in the preparation of responses to technical queries and the creation of laboratory reports using office systems and tools, spreadsheets, and word processors.
6. Be/become conversant with all company standard products and prevailing standards and specifications related to them.
7. Communicate effectively with CMP internal and external personnel by telephone and email to provide technical and general support.
Who we’re looking for
To apply, we ask that you are numerate, have a strong eye for detail, and the ability to produce accurate work. Experience in an office environment within an engineering discipline is required.
It is essential that you have experience in using CAD software, ideally Solid Works, along with experience in 3D modelling and generating 2D drawings.
If you have excellent communication and time management skills, are self-motivated, and possess good IT skills, particularly in Word and Excel, and ideally have knowledge of database packages or MRP systems, we would love to hear from you!

This position will be on a full-time, permanent basis working dayshift.
