Job Description
The salary for this role is £40,609 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected for 3 days a week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is based at the following site; Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.

As Assistant Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing smaller projects which are lower risk and non-complex. You will also provide coordination and support to one or more larger projects, ensuring that projects are delivered to budget, schedule and quality standards, procedures are followed, and that all key project outcomes are met. In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints, having a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.
Key Accountabilities:

* Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints. Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Set project controls. Track delivery within budget.
* Design the project structure appropriate to stage. Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies.
* Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned. Ensure appropriate Benefits Realisation Strategy is in place and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the Business Case. Coordinate development of the Business Case.
* Schedule / manage resources to deliver the project. May work independently or with a small team.
* Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships.
* Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.
* Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making.
* Support or set appropriate project assurance.
* Adhere to the change management processes, ensuring that they are in place to agree upon and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
* Build the project plan and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objectives. Identify and set appropriate Project Controls. Track and report delivery against milestones.
* Seek appropriate support, guidance and coaching from the project community. Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance.
Qualifications
Essential:
* A degree, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience of working in engineering, science, construction/property, or business change related discipline.
* Programme or Project Management qualification.
* Track record of supporting the delivery of programmes, or projects within programmes.
* Track record of robust project management principles, demonstrated through project delivery or support.
* IT literate, fluent in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
* Excellent report/minutes writing skills including management of actions through to conclusion.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the business; working across a wide range of employees and external contacts.
* Good planning and organisational skills; ensuring delivery of own workload and reportee are managed and realistic.
* Experience of managing budgets up to a value of £0.5m.
* Ability to work autonomously, with initiative and minimum supervision; managing time across a range of conflicting priorities and requests.
* Experience of working within quality management or systems; understanding of change control and transition mechanisms for delivering programme or project outputs into BAU.
Desirable:
* Line Management experience.
* Experience of purchasing systems and contract management.
* Passion for ensuring good programme management practices and culture.
* Good background knowledge and understanding of fusion.
