Job Description
Working with the UK's BEST Engineering Companies; the exciting role of Transport Manager has become available on a permanent position. The role will involve the following:
1. Ensure Drivers report for duty on time and in correct uniform standard.
2. Procure uniforms on behalf of new and existing Drivers then ensure distribution process is completed.
3. Validation of operational procedures and processes across the department.
4. Utilise the tracker system to monitor the Drivers and vehicles and by being in contact with them to ensure that they are in the correct position and on time for pick-ups, including checking routes and pre-empting any delays or problems.
5. Ensure Drivers are fully conversant with their work tickets and know their route.
6. Collate and check the previous day work tickets and either distribute, dealing with or file.
7. Following up any late pick-ups, complaints, non-cleaning of vehicle etc with a preliminary interview and recommend whether disciplinary action is needed.
8. Maintain compliance with legal and statutory guidelines.
9. Establish work schedules, supervise drivers and monitor performance to maintain standards.
10. Encourage and nurture the workforce ethics which promotes a team working environment.
11. Liaise regarding day-to-day vehicle maintenance issues with the engineering department.
12. Build and establish strong relationships with current clients.
13. Occasional coach driving.
14. Prepare, revise and submit reports and other documentation.
15. Check the previous day's vehicle's defect sheets and relay any problems to the Engineering department as to whether or not it should be rectified before the vehicle leaves the depot or scheduled for normal routine maintenance.
16. Expense sheets should be collated, validated and actioned accordingly.
17. People management weekly compliance audits to be undertaken and the relevant paperwork completed.
18. Breath tests to be undertaken for both sites as agreed with by the Operations Manager.
19. Documentation, distribution and collection of all keys, including fuel keys.
20. Project management responsibilities as and when required.
Desired Skills And Experience
You will either have experience working in the Commercial Automotive sector and/or the qualifications to do so. ESSENTIALLY you will have a PSV Driving license. To be considered you MUST have the following:
1. Exposure to PSV driving
2. Full PSV Driving Licence
3. PSV Technician and workshop experience
