About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Team Leader (Signalling) to join our Rail team in Crewe working as part of the Central Rail Systems Alliance (CRSA).
Our CRSA offers the unique opportunity to work with partner organisations across the rail industry. CRSA has been created to make a positive impact on the UK track renewals industry by drawing on the strengths of all alliance partners and collaborative working.
Bringing together knowledge and experience in critical rail infrastructure and track renewals, the alliance deploys innovative working methods to realise efficiencies and create a more reliable railway infrastructure.
Role purpose: To undertake signalling installation work as directed and to provide direction and leadership to Signalling Installers and Assistant Signalling Installers as required.
What you'll be doing
The successful candidate will:
* Undertake installation work as directed and to project programme;
* Ensure correct tools, plant and equipment are provided for the task;
* Comply with and promote health, quality, safety and environmental instructions;
* Effectively communicate task requirements to team;
* Motivate staff in the team and any sub-contractors working alongside;
* Timely completion of tasks;
* Undertake COSS duties as required;
* Attend team, technical and safety briefs and undertake site visits;
* Maintain IRSE logbook.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have the following skills/qualities:
* Knowledge of railway signalling systems and sub-systems;
* Knowledge of appropriate industry standards relating to installation work;
* Numerate and literate with basic computer operating skills with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word;
* Ability to drive;
* Good communication skills;
* SMTH competence;
* Valid PTS with AC/DC;
* Emergency first aid;
* COSHH appreciation.
The following skills/qualities would be desirable:
* Knowledge of Hazpak documents;
* Basic planning experience;
* Manual handling assessor;
* Basic Signalling Technology (BST);
* An NVQ at Level 3 in the relevant discipline.
