This is the perfect position for a Nurse that is passionate for all disciplines within a hospital setting including surgery, hospital wards, medicine and nurse clinics. This role includes rotating between all disciplines to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to every patient in our care. This role will also have a particular focus on our consulting service, offering quality nursing consults and building the relationships with our clients. The candidate will require experience in leadership in a multidisciplinary team. You will help to facilitate the efficient and effective management of a team of multidisciplinary nurses/SVN’s and PCA’s whilst ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to patients. The candidate will require experience in anaesthesia/theatre practice, in-patient care, assisting with medicine procedures and running nurse clinics. We are looking for a nurse looking with a desire to focus their leadership and knowledge on our nurse consulting service to ensure the highest standard of care is provided. This role is suited for someone with a desire to provide exceptional care to patients with a passion for leadership. Expected responsibilities include: Approximately 90-95% of the role will be clinical duties with 5- 10% of the role being designated to admin time Provide leadership to a team of RVN’s/SVN’s and PCA’s Ensure all associates within the team are aware of their roles and are clear on their objectives. Working alongside Clinical Nurse Manager and other leads in the business to ensure effective workflow and communication is happening across all services with colleagues and clients. Work closely with the other lead nurses and CNM to plan for the daily case load/patient flow and highlight any issues or concerns that may arise Work with other disciplines to ensure active handovers received for patients moving between disciplines Attend team briefings and daily huddles to ensure effective and efficient communication Attend regular lead nurse team meetings to review processes and protocols with a view to progressing and improving where possible Work with the CNM’s and lead nurses to ensure all new nurses entering the business are supported to complete their induction. Work with the CNM’s to help support the identification, prioritisation and implementation of learning, development and CPD for nurses in your team where required Provide effective leadership of those within your team including regular feedback to the team leaders to establish any associates who could benefit from mentoring, coaching and development discussions. Monitor the performance of team members, perform regular performance reviews and ensure that the appropriate training and support is provided, in order for the nursing staff to implement the highest standards of care required at all times In collaboration with the CNM and HRBP, effectively manage any performance, disciplinary or attendance concerns within the nursing team Liaise with CNM’s and Team Leaders regarding the cascade of information and actions from Linnaeus central office as necessary. Build relationships with clients through offering gold standard nursing consultations. Support checking and monitoring of our repeat prescription SOP Carry out nurse callbacks/advice calls Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of consult room rooms and dispensary Effective and efficient communication with client care team to ensure smooth processing of patients through consults Support with forming set guidelines for carrying out all our nurse clinics Ensure accurate record keeping when running clinics and accurate pricing is carried out Ensure efficient and effective communication with other consulting nurses and consulting PCA throughout the day. Support with triage system – carry out all triage calls and appointments and liaise with nursing leads appropriately. Support with management of CPC/ end of life appointments Support vets with their appointments – hands on in consult/prepping for next consult/managing waiting room and client expectations Support diary management - Ensure all appointments suitable for RVN’s are carried out by RVN’s Support maintenance of waiting room displays and consult room notice boards Provide training to FOH/PCA team on relevant topics Support vets with the admit of patients from consult to the inpatient team Demonstrate an excellent work ethic and capability in all nursing duties including a high level of hygiene and the ability to recognise and undertake relevant actions with regards to infection control. Ensure the risks of nosocomial infections and cross contamination are minimised by practicing good hygiene – maintenance and completion of infection control check lists in all consult rooms/dispensary Accurate record keeping, especially regarding kennel sheets, anaesthetic sheets, hospitalisation records and during nurse consults Oversee the maintenance and follow up on any faulty/broken equipment Engage with practice projects such as: PSS, CFC, DFC, RFC, IIE Bronze etc. Participate in external CPD any training in-house, ensuring post-training feedback forms are completed/cascade of relevant information to appropriate team members. Encourage and participate in the use of Halo Comply with the Health and Safety policies for the different areas of the practice/ hospital. Adhere to confidentiality relating to all aspect of the business including complying with and assisting with all requirements relating to GDPR compliance. Carry out audits to support delivery of quality care within our nurse consult service. Re-introduce structured nurse clinics for our clients and patients. Our hospital team consists of discipline specific nurses, rotating nurses, student veterinary nurses and patient care assistants who provide 24hour care to our hospitalised patients and work alongside all other departments within the hospital. The successful candidate must have a love of working within an extremely varied and fast paced environment with a team of like-minded people. We are looking for someone who will not only go above and beyond for our patients, but for their colleagues too. Candidates must be qualified RVNs and will be proactive, enthusiastic, approachable, a great team player, able to use their own initiative and self-motivated. Candidates must have at least 12months post qualification experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task with a flexible approach to working are essential.
